The painting day!

Woootzz!!

Today is gonna be painting day! Got up relatively early to buy paints for my room. It was 10+ in the morning, and my mama had to drag my lazy arse out of my bed.. hmm..something's weird is that..ever since my bed is positioned on the floor, i find that its even better to sleep on. I could sleep 3/4 of the day on my bed. hahaa.

Ok, I decided to segregate my room into 2 colors, purple and blue. hehee. 4 small tins are bought and my folks will assist me in the ever important mission. My mum made the painting hats for us. hahaha. cool .

I still got a little time before lunch, so i shall blog abit.

And i shall write bout something that bugs me after going to town yesterday. That is the standard of service in singapore.

Mind you, my friends and I encountered 3 accounts that could justify as not-so-good-service. Hmm..it kinda bugs me in a way that, Spore wana be world class in everything, and yet, the one thing that is way below par is the service provided in our sunny land.

Though I haven't been to alot of countries or travelled awhole lot apart from hk, thailand, msia, australia, however, compared to spore in the service provided.. there is something about ours that is lacking.
They don't seem to smile or serve customers genuinly i guess. Plus some provide extras that include stuck up faces, inefficiency and curt replies. hhaah.

I remembered the best service that I received in Australia was in the coffeeclub in brissy.Generally the service in aus is good and there'd be lesser occurances of lousy services. But in spore, its the other way round.

I remembered my friends and I patronised the coffee club at 10 pm on a sat nite. It was bustling with people weekends. There were bout 9 or 10 of us and we each ordered beverages.

Later on, we also asked for cups of skyjuices for all of us, the waiteress at this point in tim was still friendly and polite, and delivered the drinks promptly. Smiles were displayed lavishly from the service staffs and they treat everyone equally, be it ur nationality.

There was an instance when I was walking back to my seat after visiting the restroom, and I by passed the touchscreen console that they used for keying in orders. Out of curiosity, I stood and scrutinized the seemingly nice GUI. One of the waiters then came up to me and asked me if I'd like to know how it works, I nodded in delight and he proceeded to show me the different functionalities of the software.

He spoke in an upbeat manner and he recognized that I was a singaporean from the way I spoke. He shared his experiences of his Uni school exchange program that was coincidentally in spore too. Another of my neighbour walked by and joined us in the small banter amongst the 3 of us. We all spoke like we've known each other back in school.

And when we're back in our seats and continued chatting with the others, the waiter would from time to time come up and ask if we'd like anything else and joked or talked to some of the others. It was about 1am at that time where there were lesser customers.

At 1.30am when we left, the waiter bid us goodbye and best of luck in our exams. haha.
They are generous in their words and would treat customers in a polite and friendly way..thats what can be experienced generally.

Hmm..its definitely a very different feeling in the terms of service provided by the people in aussieland. Something that one has to go through himself in order to know. Only then would you realise how sucky the services in spore are. Not mentioning that some are just down right sucky.

Ok, I was with 2 of Kermit's buddies at the eatary at Cuppage Terrace and sat down to have dinner. As usual, that place seems like some ghost town, as there were no customers apart from a couple at the other table. After looking through the menu, we started to order our food from a bespectaled lady who seems to be in her mid 30s.
We conversed in mandarin.

"One fish burger, one chicken set... 2 fried beef noodles(干炒牛肉面)"

Simple?

Only 4 of us, and technically speaking, there were only 3 items to remember as the last item is of 2 servings. Plus, the place was vacant and only 4 of us placing orders that time.

Then my fish burger came, followed by the chicken set. And our drinks. The last thing that arrive should be the fried noodles right?

However, this is the part where it irks me. When the lady delivered the plate of noodles, she blatantly said ,"The cook made a miskake, this is seafood fried noodles."

I don't think I even heard her say a word of apology.

The way she say it, was like its very OK that the chef made a mistake in the orders and expecting them to accept the fact that the orders somehow turned out to be something else. Not even a word of sorry, or humbleness to admit that it is indeed their mistake.

She just left the noodles there, and turned her back. The 2 guys were deciding who would be the one to eat the seafood noodles, but from their expressions, neither one of them showed any interest in it.

They told the lady that they would like their original order of beef noodles. The lady showed us an expression like we just asked her to redeem the golden crown of monkey god for us. tsk tsk.

Come on, I mean .such service is not gonna get them anywhere far in their business lor..maybe that explains why the stall seems so vacant. Its obviously their mistake and yet, not an apology. Its not like the cook had to single handedly prepare food for a big tour group from japan at lunch hour that he has no time to change our order...

Ok, as we had 3.5 hours before our movie started, we wandered off to The coffeeclub at the branch in Kinokuniya. Candy joined us and 3 of them went in first, though I didn't experience the first hand sub standard service provided by the manager there, she enlightened me about what happened. The attitude that was shown when she requested for the outdoor seats.

Basically is also another lacklusture service provided. Kermit and I sat in awhile, and we all did notice that the lady manager had a somewhat....er... bitchy face? haha. tsk tsk..
Oh yes, one of their items was completely forgotten until they requested for it. I don't know if they felt placated after the muddy mud pie and beverages.
But when the bill came, there was a 10% service charge. I'm appalled by the service standard there, or rather, the lack of. Somehow I believe that many restaurants take the service charges for granted.

The 3rd encounter was at Long John Silver's at cine. Well. the milo freeze was spilled accidentally on the table and a blob of it spilt out. Totally unintentional of cos. Ihahaa..i had yet to drink a sip and i lost 1/3 of it.

We kindly asked the cleaning lady (in her 60s probably ) if she could clean up the spill on our table.

At that point of time, she had just cleaning a big table and had 2 trays in her hands. Upon hearing our request, she put down the trays of rubbish and gestured vehemently, at the same time clamored in hokkien.

We couldn't quite understand what she said, but from her gestures and pointing towards the previous tables..I made out that she meant something like," Look at me, so many tables to clean, and so much rubbish on hands already! You people still make things worse!@#$#&*"

Ok, i don think she swore though, hahaa. But we concluded that granny probably really had a hard day and was pissed.

Hmm..experincing 3 incidents in a day that made me sink my head in shame bout such services, makes me even more convinced that though we may have some of the best things that other countries do not, our service standard here will always remain lacklusture.

Staying home might be a good option too I guess.
