Last Friday was the highly anticipated SGX BULL RUN 05'.
After 1 month of intense training..planning..jersey ordering/printing..
Finally we're prepard to go.
Well, not quite.
Apparently the organisers decided to start the run half an hour earlier. We followed the event sheet closely and reached Padang at 5.35pm, thinking that we could hang around to watch the performances or visit the stalls for an hour before the run starts.
However the moment we reach there, we heard the MC say something like "now that we've finished the warm up..blah blah.. let us prepare for the opening ceremony.. "
Something like that, couldnt hear properly as we're some distance from the stage.
The warm up was suppose to start at 6.25pm!!!
Then Jackie Chan appeared on stage as one of the guest of honours.
"Ooh ~~~JACKIE!!" And most of the ladies colleagues rushed forward for a clearer view of the International star.(yes, including yours truly)
I ain't a fan of Jackie, its just that I've never seen him 'live' before..so it gets kinda exciting!!
His nose doesnt look that big though. hahahaa. Some pics from the SGX website. click here.
At 600pm. The race was starting! Its a charity run, but feels like a race when i'm running.
Everyone squeeze at the starting point. Without even warming up, we have to run already~~~!!!~!@
Not a good start I say eh?
Thus I had to try and wriggle my legs and knees amongst the huge sea of people. Hoping to do some 'warm up' before running.
The theme was corporate attire. hahaa. However my company was dressed up in sporty attire. Completely geared from Head to toe in New Balance! Even socks!
There were schools like SMU, and all the other companies in the City. Total number of runners was about 1300+ i think?
Some of them really had interesting outfits, like caps with 2 bull horns protruding. Or tee shirts printed with office suit, complete with tie.
Theres even a group of 5 men, who were dressed up as surgeons, and they actually carried a BULL head(fake one lah) on a stretcher and ran the whole 3.2km. They were really in surgeons wear! Mask, robe and gloves!
ahha..really interesting to see such hilarious antics.
6.05pm race started!!
Everyone ran for their lives. hahaa.
And another exciting thing was, I got to High-5 with Jackie Chan!
If you look at the 2nd pic from the link above, on the right side. He's standing at the bridge waiting for runners to run pass and high 5!
I gave him a big smack on the palm.
Its kinda bah bah also his palm.*sshhh*
tee hee~~!
Along the way, there's lots of off-work people staring at us, and cheering the people from their companies too. Some of our colleagues were spotted giving us the moral support!
But i saw some grumpy uncles sitting in their cars/lorries, as quite a fair bit of road was cordoned off just for the annual run. In the end, it caused a traffic jam.
HHAhahaaa. But still its exciting. The chances of you stopping for a rest while running are very slim to..cos along the way..there's lots of Cheerleaders cheering the runners on. Pretty young gals. hahaha.
There's also 2 water points.
It doesn't feel that long too..the 3.2km run. As compared to our weekly practices, of 2.1km or so..and it seems forever to complete the route while practising.
Finally after 23 mins and XXXX of seconds, I reached the Finish point. whahahaa.
Proud of my timing. Its not fast like speedy gonzalas I know, but at least its my best effort run.
*give myself a pat on the back*
Throughout the whole carnival..there's those performers walking around..those in super high walking sticks..or those acrobat performers.
We also missed the cheerleading competition as they started early.
A nice group photo of our team!
Can you spot me in 5 seconds?

hohoho.
After the event, we all had a feast at Boat Quay Seafood restaurant( 30 people ate up a 4 digit bill. *gasps!*) followed by KTV-ing for some of us.
A fun-filled day indeed.
